DYONEX for older Fire TV: Fire OS 5 and Android 5.1

An older Fire TV can still serve as a media player. DYONEX Fire TV Legacy is built for Fire OS 5, based on Android 5.1, and works with the TV remote.

Check the system before choosing a download

Open Settings and look for About or Device information. If it shows Fire OS 5, choose Fire TV Legacy. Its minimum is Android 5.1 / API 22. The regular Android TV and Google TV download requires Android 8.0 or later. An older Android phone is a different device: the DYONEX mobile edition requires Android 8.0+.

Install directly through Downloader

TYPE THIS IN DOWNLOADER ON YOUR TV

dyonex.app/fire
  1. Open Downloader on your internet-connected Fire TV. You do not need to download the APK on a phone or computer.
  2. Enter dyonex.app/fire in the address field and select Go.
  3. Downloader downloads fire.apk directly to the Fire TV. Wait for it to finish.
  4. Select Install. If the system asks, allow Downloader to install this application and return to the installer. The permission location varies by model.
  5. Select Open and follow the DYONEX first-launch notice.

First launch and remote

At first launch, DYONEX shows its terms notice. You can read Privacy and Terms, go back and accept to continue. Exiting does not save consent. The app then checks the installation trial or licence. The Fire TV remote Menu (≡) button opens colour-key shortcuts; choose with arrows and OK. Add your own authorised playlist to start playing content.

If you see a parsing error

Check that you entered dyonex.app/fire and that the file is fire.apk. The regular Android TV 8.0+ APK does not suit Fire OS 5. If the download was interrupted, remove that incomplete file from Downloader and download it again. If the error continues, send support the model and Fire OS version, without playlist passwords.
